DWC Manatee Receives First Corporate Sponsor for Annual Scholarship
Empowering aspirational students with a $1000 corporate sponsorship
MANATEE COUNTY, FL, March 19, 2019– The Democratic Women’s Club of Manatee County, announced today their first corporate sponsor for their 2020 Marge Kinnan and Shirley Snyder Scholarship. techHouse, a business technology consulting firm, is benefiting a future scholarship winner with $1000. The scholarship supports young people in Manatee County who pursue education beyond high school.
“The Democratic Women’s Club of Manatee County is honored to have received such a generous sponsorship,” says Erika Lundquist, President of DWC Manatee.
The theme for this past year’s scholarship luncheon was Women Helping Women, a theme that extends to the community at large. In keeping with this theme, DWC Manatee has supported Manatee County women, their families, and their communities through involvement in Our Daily Bread, Bethesda House, $6000 in fundraised donations for the Coast Guard during the government shutdown, and more. Proceeds from a silent auction at the upcoming luncheon will also go toward the scholarship.
“techHouse is incredibly proud to partner with DWC Manatee, and we’re honored to help empower young people to thrive academically and professionally,” said Kathy Durfee, CEO and Founder of techHouse. “We know how powerful having the right tools can be, and will continue doing everything we can to provide those tools to our community.”
To receive the scholarship, applicants must be Manatee County residents who are high school seniors or already enrolled in college. Prospective scholarship recipients must submit a transcript, essay, proof of demonstrated financial need, and three letters of recommendation to be considered for the award.
